Afghan Victory Day Celebrated in Kabul
Afghan Victory Day Celebrated in Kabul
NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan

Today is a celebration, but is also a remembrance of the people who fought the Russian forces, those who lost their lives, families, and property,” said Minister Wardak. “Their many sacrifices resulted in freedom.”
“We also remember the attack on September 11 [2001] … and appreciate the sacrifice of the international forces that are in Afghanistan to help bring peace and stability,” Wardak said, although critical of the initial international response after the fall of the Taliban.
Afghanistan First Vice President Fahim then addressed the crowd. “Today the Afghan people should look to their future remembering the political situation of the recent past,” Fahim said. “Our geographical location had us under foreign domination in the past, but today we are moving to solidify our freedom.”
Capturing the morning’s spirit of security and independence, and noting there was much work to do to fight corruption and narcotics, Vice President Fahim said, “Next year, the Afghan National Security Forces will be ready to take over security responsibility

Northern Afghanistan quake
Not sure if the quake was felt near Camp Spann -
The temblor hit just before 1 a.m. (2030 GMT Sunday) in Samangan province, about halfway between Kabul and the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif, according to the province's deputy governor, Kulam Sakhi Baghlani.
Roads and communications are sparse in the area, and casualty reports take time to reach authorities. The quake was felt in Kabul as well as the neighboring countries of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
Baghlani said three districts of scattered mud-walled villages were affected, with more than 300 homes damaged and dozens of head of livestock killed. Landslides sparked by the quake had blocked roads, making even more arduous what was already an eight-hour drive along winding mountain trails from the provincial capital of Aybak.
"The quake would have been felt much more intensely up in the mountains," Baghlani said. He said three civil defense units had been dispatched to check on the damage and casualties.
The Hindu Kush region is capable of producing large earthquakes along faultlines where India slammed against the Asian continent millions of years ago.
In 1998, a pair of quakes measuring 5.9 and 6.6 struck along Afghanistan's border with Tajikistan, killing more than 6,000 people. A 5.3 quake that hit Baghlan province next to Samangan in 2002 killed about 1,000 people.

"Happy Resurrection- Easter Day- Alive again ..."

Alive Again Matt Maher Lyrics
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6w5szlpedY
I woke up in darkness
surrounded by silence
oh where, where have I gone?
I woke to reality
losing its grip on me
oh where, where have I gone?
Cause I can see the light
before I see the sunrise
You called and you shouted
broke through my deafness
now Im breathing in
and breathing out
Im alive again
You shattered my darkness
washed away my blindness
now Im breathing in
and breathing out
Im alive again
Late have I loved you,
you waited for me,
I searched for you
what took me so long?
I was looking outside
as if love would ever want to hide
Im finding I was wrong
Cause I can feel the wind
before it hits my skin
You called and you shouted
broke through my deafness
now Im breathing in
and breathing out
Im alive again
You shattered my darkness
washed away my blindness
now Im breathing in
and breathing out
Im alive again
Im alive again
Cause I want you
Yes, I want you,
I need you
And Ill do whatever I have to
Just to get through
cause I love you
and I love you
You called and you shouted
broke through my deafness
now Im breathing in
and breathing out
Im alive again
You shattered my darkness
washed away my blindness
now Im breathing in
and breathing out
Im alive again
